Privacy Policy — AstroStitch

AstroStitch is an app for composing astronomical mosaics and panoramas (Moon, Sun, deep sky and landscapes) that processes your photos entirely on your own device. This policy states plainly what the app does and does not do with your data.
Data collected
None. AstroStitch does not collect, store or transmit any personal information, photo or metadata to any server. All processing — reading the photos, alignment, composing the mosaic and exporting — happens locally, in a native engine embedded in the app itself. Your photos never leave the device.
In particular, the app does not collect:
- identifying data (name, e-mail, phone number, address);
- device or advertising identifiers;
- location;
- contacts, calendar, messages or browsing history;
- usage data, analytics, telemetry or personalised crash reports;
- your photos or anything derived from them.
Accounts and sign-up
The app requires no login, account or user identification of any kind.
Permissions used
- Selecting photos — through the Android system's own photo picker, without the app needing broad access to your gallery.

Saving the result to the gallery — on Android 10 and
later this uses the system MediaStore and requires no extra permission.
On Android 9 and earlier the app declares the storage permission
(
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) solely to be able to save the exported image.
The app does not use the camera, microphone, location, contacts, SMS, or broad access to device storage.
Internet connection
The AstroStitch build distributed on the Google Play Store makes no network requests at all — processing is 100% offline and updates are handled entirely by the Play Store itself.
The build distributed outside the Play Store (direct APK install) checks once per app launch whether a newer version is available — a single anonymous, public request to a GitHub address, sending no personal data, device identifier or content from your photos.
When the result leaves the device
The mosaic leaves the app only when you decide: by saving it to the gallery, or by using the share button, which hands the file to the destination app you pick (messenger, e-mail, cloud storage and so on). From that point on, the file is governed by the policy of the app or service you chose.
Temporary files created during processing live in the app's private storage area and are removed when the app is uninstalled.
Sharing with third parties
There is none. AstroStitch uses no analytics, advertising or tracking libraries of any kind.
Third-party components
The app uses open-source libraries that run locally and transmit no data: OpenCV (Apache-2.0) and LibRaw (CDDL-1.0). Their licence texts can be read inside the app itself, under Settings → Third-party licences, and the LibRaw sources are published at third-party-sources.
Children
The app is not directed at children and, since it collects data from no one, it collects no data from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will be updated.
